    Default Whiskeys

My favorite drink is a good rye and coke. My favorite Canadian whiskey is Alberta Springs. I rarely order anything else. But some friends gave me some Irish whiskey and Scotch whiskey and i've never had any of this before. I don't think they're expensive liquers because my friends don't spend much on alchohol. One is Jamesons and the other is Johnnie Walker i think. Since some of you guys are whiskey experts I'm wondering how you drink them. With Canadian whiskey you just add coke and ice. Is there something simple like this with scotch and irish whiskey? I'm sure this is a pretty stupid question for most of you but i don't try things new often. Anyways they're sitting in my cupboard so i might as well drink them.

    Default Scotch

Usually Scotch is mixed with ice and coke.
    Minus the coke
Scotch is a very complex drink and should be given every opportunity to shine.
    Three ways to imbibe.

Of course you can mix if you like but what you pay for a bottle may sway you from that. Who wants a good bottle of Belvanie tasting like coke!
If you mix with ice the problem is the drink keeps changing in taste. It is strong and cold at first, then gets warmer and watery towards the end. Of course that all depends on the speed of comsumption as well.
With water the drink is just the way you like it all the way through. And depending on the water used the taste can change. Good natural spring water is best.

    Enjoy.

after Phearless's great post...but that has never stopped me before.
