So quick question about fishing near or under falls. What is the distance that you have to stay away from waterfalls? I was pretty sure there was a rule but I couldn't find it anywhere in the synopsis. I'm heading out to some areas that I have never fished before and know there are falls on a couple of the rivers. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is there such a thing as a Private Lake?

So this morning, I went on an adventure into new territory. Last week I was on this secluded road and saw a swamp that came within 2 meters of the road; when I got home, I checked a map, and found out that the swamp was about 500 meters long, and then joined a small lake (for some reason not considered part of the same lake). This lake was stocked up until 1994 with diploid rainbow and cutties, and Fish Wizard says that it is home to cutthroat, rainbow and smallmouth.
Upon further research, the municipality's zoning bylaws give water jurisdiction to the province, and fisheries to the feds and the province (Water Act, Fisheries Act and Fish Protection Act).
Where I accessed the swamp would normally have been within the road allowance, but the municipal zoning for this parcel was greenbelt - which does not have road allowances - where the use of the land could be used for conservation, nature enjoyment, etc. (I enjoyed it :) ). The zoning bylaws also say that this water body could have a motorless craft operated on it, but no mention of fishing.....

So I parked the car off the road, slipped down an extremely steep slope, and flippered my way through deadfalls and weeds in about 4 feet of water for about half an hour to finally reach the lake.
Beautiful! Hooked about a dozen sunfish, one cutthroat about 2 pounds, and my first couple of bass on a popper - also a first to tie for me.

After about 2 hours a lady came out to yell at me:

Her: Did you know you're on private property?
Me: Even the water?
Her: No, but it is surrounded by private property - how did you get into the lake?
Me: I came through the swamp adjacent to the road.
Her: That was private property too!
Me: The swamp reaches to within the road allowance (actually wasn't a road allowance - didn't know at the time - my bad).
Her: Well I have to look out my windows, and I don't want to see you! The least you can do is move to the other side of the lake!

I looked at my watch, and had to go anyway, so I left just in case she had my car towed or some other trouble occurred. I still can find no laws or bylaws expressly forbidding me access, but I was wondering if anyone here has some insight into what the deal is here.

I don't plan on returning anytime soon, because really, I had some fun, and I do respect the privacy of others, and I wouldn't go tell the world about my new secret spot so thousands of float tubers can descend upon this lake, but I would like to know my rights....

Any ideas?
