fishing on the beach recently and catching some good cutts, using a pattern with not much more than a long, quite long, olive rabbit strip tied zonker style. the best fish i caught that day puked up a half digested thing which i can only think was a pile worm. As far as i can tell anyway. It lookded like a leach carcass. definately wasn't a fish. about two and a half inches, and has some definate pincer type things on the end of it, and ribs from head to tail like a leach, and not in the way a fish does

anyway, point being, in retrospect the pattern caught alot of fish, several days in a row actually, and looked like a decent pile worm imitation, which got me thinking if anywone has much experience with pile worms as a cutty food source

I've been asked if I want to purchase a Sage 7100 but the only problem is, neither one of us know what it's worth.

I've done some Googling but can't find much on the value of the rod, other than a few posts from 2003 which were in the $180 range. Reading some reviews, I know I want this rod as my Saltwater rig but I want to give the gentleman a fair value. It's an RPL rod (not the RPL+) and if anyone knows anything else about them, or an approximate value I can offer, I'd be very interested in hearing from you.

We have a local lake with rainbow up to 19 pounds that prefer the little dickens. Most of these minnows I have collected were around 1.5 inches in length this summer but am having a real issue with tying a productive fly. There are also brook Char in the same lake up to 5 pounds that love them.

The United Way realized that it had never received a donation

from the city's most successful lawyer. So a United Way volunteer paid

the lawyer a visit in his lavish office.

The volunteer opened the meeting by saying, 'Our research

shows that even though your annual income is over two million dollars,

you don't give a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give something

back to your community through the United Way ?'

The lawyer thinks for a minute and says, 'First, did your

research also show you that my mother is dying after a long, painful illness

and she has huge medical bills that are far beyond her ability to pay?'

Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbles, 'Uh . . . no, I

didn't know that.'

'Secondly,' says the lawyer, 'did it show that my brother,

a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair and is unable

to support his wife and six children?'

The stricken United Way rep begins to stammer an apology,

but is cut off again.

'Thirdly, did your research also show you that my sister's

husband died in dreadful car accident, leaving her penniless with a mortgage

and three children, one of whom is disabled and another that has learning

disabilities requiring an array of private tutors?'

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, says, 'I'm

so sorry, I had no idea.'

And the lawyer says, 'So . . . if I didn't give any money

to them, what makes you think I'd give any to you

_News release: AL QAEDA ON STRIKE - Sunday Mirror - September 5th, 2010_

Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day strike...

News release: AL QAEDA ON STRIKE - Sunday Mirror - September 5th, 2010

Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they are entitled to in the afterlife. Emergency talks with Al Qaeda have so far failed to produce an agreement

The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death will be cut by 25% this February from 72 to only 60. The rationale for the cut was the increase in recent years of the number of suicide bombings and a subsequent shortage of virgins in the afterlife.

The suicide bombers' union, the British Organization of Occupational Martyrs < or B.O.O.M. > responded with a statement that this was unacceptable to its members and immediately balloted for strike action. General Secretary Abdullah Amir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to death in the cause of Jihad. We don't ask for much in return but to be treated like this is like a kick in the teeth".

Speaking from his shed in Tipton in the West Midlands in which he currently resides, Al Qaeda chief executive Osama bin Laden explained, "We sympathize with our workers concerns but Al Qaeda is simply not in a position to meet their demands. They are simply not accepting the realities of modern-day Jihad in a competitive marketplace.

Thanks to Western depravity, there is now a chronic shortage of virgins in the afterlife. It's a straight choice between reducing expenditure and laying people off. I don't like cutting wages but I'd hate to have to tell 3000 of my staff that they won't be able to blow themselves up."

Spokesmen for the union in the North East of England, Liverpool, Ireland, Wales, New Zealand, Canada and the entire Australian continent stated that the strike would not affect their operations as "There are no virgins in their areas anyway".

The Scottish Al Qaeda spokesman said they had not had any volunteers since the emergence of Scottish singing star, Susan Boyle - now that Scottish Muslims know what a virgin looks like they are not at all keen on going to paradise.

Hello everyone, I have been a fly fisher for most of my life. I grew up in the Kootenays and have fished for trout exclusively with exceptions of land lock Kokanee and Dollys. I have lived on the coast for the last five years and am starting to get an itch to catch some salmon. I don't think I would be a big fan of standing on the shore of the Fraser with the other 100 people trying to snag/flossing a salmon. I am not sure if that is the only way to go about catching a nice big salmon and if it is I guess I will give it a try  but I am also not sure what kind of gear I would need. I would prefer to be able to catch a nice salmon on a fly rod but all I own is a 6-7 wt and I don't think that would cut it? Basically I am looking for any pointers on getting into salmon fishing.

Thanks Nic.

We've never been there. We are self sufficient tent campers. We have both kick boats and a canoe. We'll be leaving within 5 days. We are dedicated fly fishers. Many but small fish are no joy. My questions are: What lakes do you recommend? Flies? Canoe or kick boats? (We prefer the canoe but want to catch fish) Lake side camping?
I have one day in mid September to fish in the Victoria area whilst there on business. I need an area to fish for about 6 hours total, that's all I have. That's time on the water, and I'd like to spend as little time in the car as possible. So that would mean 2 hours max drive, one way, from Victoria.
