British Columbia Fly Patterns - Copper John Stone Fly Nymph, Tied by Kevin Raffle

 

Hook: #8 - 12, 9671 Mustad Nymph Hook
Thread: Black 8/0 Uni thread
Tail: Pheasant tail
Body: Med Copper wire
Thorax: Peacock Herl
Legs: Rubber Lace
Shell Back: Pearl flash
Bead:
1/8 Copper or gold bead

Instructions:

  • Slide 1/8 bead head to the eye of the hook.

  • Tie in two Pheasant tail fibers at the heel of the hook for the tail.

  • Tie in Copper wire for the body and wrap forward to the half way point of the hook.

  • Tie in Peacock Hearl and pearl flash for the body.

  • Tie in two even strips of Rubber lace diagonally for the legs.

  • Wrap the Peacock hearl forward keeping the rubber lace legs diagonal.

  • Pull pearl flash over the body snuggley and tie off.

  • Whip Finish.
