British Columbia Fly Patterns - Lady McConnell, Tied by Kevin Raffle

 

Hook: Hook Size #12 - 16 94840 Mustad Dry fly hook
Thread: Tan 8/0 Uni thread
Tail: White Dubbing & Deer Hair
Body: Natural Yellow or green Kevlar Thread and Deer Hair
Hackle: Natural Grizzly Hackle


Instructions:

  • Tie in the White Dubbing at the heal of the hook for the shuck.

  • Tie in Grizzly hackle at the heal of the hook for the tail.

  • Tie in the Kevlar Thread for the body.

  • Tie in 10 - 20 strands of deer hair at the butt sections for the back. (Be sure to clean all the under fur from the dear hair before tying it in).

  • Wrap Kevlar thread forward to the 3/4 point of the hook.

  • Pull deer forward to the 3/4 point of the hook and tie off. ( Be sure to keep the deer hair nice and tight while tying off)

  • Tie in Grizzly hackle from the tips for the wing at the 3/4 point of the hook and wrap forward using Hackle pliers.

  • Tie Grizzly hackle off and whip finish.
